⏱ The incentive decreases every year starting January 2027. Vehicles must be delivered in 2026 for maximum savings. Funding is first-come, first-served.

We Handle Everything. You Just Drive.

You cannot apply for the EVAP incentive on your own — only dealerships can submit claims to Transport Canada. Scarboro Kia manages the entire process, from eligibility verification to applying your savings directly at the point of sale.

03

Drive Away with Savings

Once approved, the incentive is applied directly to your sale or lease agreement after taxes and fees. Up to $5,000 right on your bill of sale.

What You Need to Know

The Electric Vehicle Affordability Program applies to eligible purchases and leases starting February 16, 2026. Here are the essential details.

$50,000 Maximum Transaction Price

The final transaction value must be $50,000 or less — including base price, trim, packages, add-ons, and dealer fees. Level 2 chargers, extended warranties, winter tires, and freight are excluded from this cap.

Purchases & Leases Both Qualify

Cash, financed, and leases of 12+ months are all eligible. For leases, the incentive is prorated: (full amount ÷ 48) × your lease months. A 48-month lease receives the full incentive.

One Incentive Per Lifetime

Individuals are limited to one EVAP incentive over the entire 5-year program. Make it count — choose the right vehicle and protect your investment. Businesses may qualify for up to 10.

The Incentive Decreases Every Year

EVAP incentives decline over the program's 5-year lifespan. Your amount is locked in when the dealership submits the eligibility assessment — not when you sign or take delivery.

We Take Care of Your Home Charger Too

Level 2 Home Charging

Excluded from the $50,000 Cap

Under EVAP, a Level 2 charger is excluded from the final transaction value. Adding a charger to your purchase will not push you over the $50,000 eligibility limit.

You can finance the charger alongside your vehicle — one simple monthly payment covers your new Kia and the charger that powers it.

  • Level 2 charger excluded from EVAP transaction cap
  • Finance the charger with your vehicle — one payment
  • Charge overnight at home — full battery every morning
  • Our team can help coordinate installation

You Only Get One Incentive.
Protect Your Investment.

Since individuals receive just one EVAP incentive over the entire program, protecting your vehicle is critical. Standard insurance covers the depreciated value — not the government incentive. And the government will not issue a second credit.

Recommended Coverage

Extended Warranty & GAP Insurance

Extended Warranty: Kia vehicles come with an outstanding standard warranty. Extending coverage ensures your EV is protected well beyond the original term. Ask about Kia Protect plans.

GAP Insurance: If your vehicle is declared a total loss, GAP insurance covers the difference between what insurance pays and what you owe. Since you cannot receive a second EVAP incentive, this coverage is especially important for protecting the full value of your purchase — including the government savings.

Both products are excluded from the $50,000 transaction cap — adding them will not affect your EVAP eligibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

EVAP is a new Government of Canada incentive providing up to $5,000 off eligible battery-electric and fuel cell vehicles, and up to $2,500 off eligible plug-in hybrids. It applies to new vehicles purchased or leased on or after February 16, 2026, with a final transaction value of $50,000 or less. This is a brand-new program that replaces the previous iZEV program with updated rules focused on affordability.
The final transaction value includes the base vehicle price, trim, optional packages, add-ons, accessories at delivery, and dealer fees. It does not include extended warranties, winter tires, Level 2 chargers, PDI & freight, financing/leasing costs, trade-in value, government taxes, rebates, or fees. You can add a charger, winter tires, and warranty coverage without affecting the $50,000 cap.
No. Only dealerships can submit eligibility assessments and claims to Transport Canada. At Scarboro Kia, we handle the entire process. You sign a Consumer Consent Form, and we take care of the rest. The incentive is applied directly to your purchase or lease agreement.
Yes. Purchases and leases of 12+ months qualify. For leases, the incentive is prorated: (full incentive ÷ 48) × your lease months. A 48-month lease gets the full amount, 36 months gets 75%, and 24 months gets 50%. Cash and financed purchases receive the full incentive.
The incentive drops from $5,000 to $4,000 on January 1, 2027, and decreases further each year. Your amount is based on when the dealership submits the eligibility assessment, so acting now locks in the highest rate. EVAP funding is first-come, first-served and may be exhausted early. With the program driving high EV demand, popular models may face longer wait times — ordering now ensures delivery while 2026 levels are available.
No. EVAP is a new program replacing iZEV. It uses a "final transaction value" cap of $50,000 (not an MSRP cap), includes declining incentives, and focuses on EVs made in Canada or free-trade-agreement countries. If you previously received an iZEV incentive, you may still be eligible for EVAP.
Yes. The EVAP incentive is applied on top of any existing provincial or territorial incentive programs. If Ontario offers additional EV rebates, you can stack those savings with your federal EVAP incentive.
In certain cases — total loss, manufacturer buyback, or situations Transport Canada deems reasonable — you may receive a second incentive, but only with pre-approval from Transport Canada. This is not guaranteed, which is why we strongly recommend GAP insurance and extended warranty from the start.
