Kia announces the EV5 exclusively for the Canadian Market

2026 Kia EV5 — Exclusive to Canada in North America

Kia is making a big move in the electric SUV market with the 2026 Kia EV5, a stylish and affordable all-electric compact SUV that will be exclusive to Canada in the North American market. Set to debut to the public at the Canadian International Auto Show, the EV5 is designed to bring more drivers into EV ownership by combining attractive pricing, premium features, and the versatility Canadians expect from an SUV.

Designed to Stand Out

The EV5 follows Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy, taking inspiration from nature while blending bold lines and modern proportions. Drawing cues from the flagship EV9, it features Kia’s signature EV tiger face grille and a distinctive 3D star map lighting pattern.

Its sculpted side profile, hidden door handles, and wide stance give it a confident, upscale look, complemented by available 18-, 19-, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The rear is just as sleek, with connected taillights and an integrated spoiler for aerodynamic efficiency. Buyers will be able to choose from eight exterior colours, including two new shades exclusive to Kia — Magma Red and Frost Blue.

Premium Interior with Eco-Friendly Touches

Inside, the EV5 balances sporty styling with a luxury-inspired cabin. Soft-touch materials, a minimalist layout, and 10 environmentally conscious materials create a modern, sustainable atmosphere.

The driver is greeted by a nearly 30-inch panoramic display that controls navigation, infotainment, and vehicle settings. The EV5 seats five passengers comfortably, offering generous legroom and shoulder space. Available mood lighting lets you customize the cabin’s ambiance, while clever storage solutions — including a front trunk (frunk) and flat-folding second-row seats — maximize cargo capacity.

Powertrain Options & Charging

Canadian buyers will be able to choose between two battery sizes:

  • Standard Range — 60.3 kWh
  • Long Range — 81.4 kWh

Both front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations will be available, making the EV5 suitable for all driving conditions. Equipped with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, the EV5 will have access to 61% more DC fast charging stations nationwide.

Built for Canadian Drivers

Kia designed the EV5 to meet the needs of Canada’s most popular vehicle segment — compact SUVs. With its combination of affordability, versatility, and modern technology, the EV5 is set to be a major step in making EV ownership more accessible for Canadians.

The 2026 Kia EV5 is expected to arrive in dealerships across Canada in 2026, with pricing and final specifications to be announced closer to launch.
