2011 Kia Forte 4 sale at Scarboro Kia located in Scarborough just east of Toronto
At Scarborough Kia located in Scarboro just east of the GTA has the 2011 Kia Forte is smooth, clean, and uncluttered on the outside, with proportions that feel just right either up close or from a distance, a stance that's assertive and attractive, and a flowing, gently arced roofline. The svelte Forte doesn't have any awkward angles, and the sleek coupe looks even better with its simple, swept-back appearance. This year, a five-door Forte hatchback joins the lineup, with a more truncated roofline in back. Inside, the look in any of the models is simple, in a good way. It's not particularly trendsetting, but with a smoother, more organic version of the teardrop center stack used in the Soul, the look is no-nonsense yet stylish.

Forte shoppers have a choice of two different engines: a 156-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder in LX and EX models or a 173-hp, 2.4-liter four in the sportier SX. The Forte Koup is only offered in EX or SX trims. LX models have a standard six-speed manual; newly offered for 2011 is a six-speed automatic. With either of the engines, the 2011 Kia Forte delivers a lot more driving satisfaction (and sophistication) than most value-minded buyers will expect. Both engines deliver more than adequate acceleration, and they function just fine with the automatics as they both are happiest in the mid-rev ranges. We actually recommend the automatic with the Forte, as it works well with the engine, and clutch-throttle coordination on manual cars was frustrating. The standard hydraulic power steering responds well, outward visibility is good, and the ride is firm but absorbent—a nice compromise for daily driving.

The rather tall roof and wider body works wonders for passenger space in the Forte. Front seats aren't generously proportioned, but there's adequate headroom even with the sunroof for a 6'6" driver, with lots of legroom, and the backseat has plenty of space for two adults, three in a pinch—though legroom is limited. The 2011 Kia Forte Koup is an exception to those observations, though; the slightly different seating position makes headroom challenging with the sunroof especially. The trunk is huge. Overall, Kia has done a great job damping the noise and vibration that usually accompanies the cheapest small cars, and even over the coarsest road surfaces the cabin boom isn't excessive. Seat materials are unremarkable, and while there's definitely some hard plastic around the cabin, we couldn't find any ragged edges.

All safety features are standard across the entire 2011 Kia Forte line; that includes dual seat-mounted side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, front active headrests, anti-lock brakes with brake assist, and electronic stability control.

You won't be missing out on key features in going with one of the most affordable 2011 Kia Forte models. Although air conditioning remains optional on the base Forte LX, all Forte trims get Bluetooth, Sirius Satellite Radio, and an auxiliary input jack for the audio system, plus steering wheel controls and voice activation. 2011 Kia Forte Koup models come only in EX and SX trims. The EX model adds A/C and power accessories—and larger 16-inch alloys, for Koup models—while the SX adds fog lamps, plus upgraded upholstery and trim. The SX model is the "image leader" of the lineup; in addition to those details and the stronger engine, it gets a sport-tuned suspension, larger brakes, and showy 17-inch alloy wheels. Steering-wheel paddle-shifters are now included on all SX models for 2011. About the only thing missing is a full-featured nav system.

2011 Kia Sorrento 4 sale at Scarboro Kia located in Scarborough just east of Toronto
At Scarborough Kia located in Scarboro just east of the GTA and if you’ve gazed at a CR-V, RAV4, or Edge with lust in your heart, you may want to back away from those flirtations and take a look at the 2011 Kia Sorento.

You probably know the Sorento as a truck-based SUV with frame rails and some real off-road capability—but all that’s changed. The new Sorento leaves the trails behind for a new mission that’s all about toting families in carlike comfort. It’s now built off the same architecture as the Hyundai Santa Fe, which means carlike construction and carlike handling.

Offered in LX, EX, and EX V-6 versions, the 2011 Sorento just might be the perfect vehicle for today’s downsized budgets and value-conscious shoppers. It splits the niche of crossovers in the middle, delivering the space and performance of some bigger names with the fuel economy of some smaller entries, with the addition of a third-row seat, a choice of engines, and a class-leading warranty. Suddenly, the dull-ish Sorento is all things to a much bigger group of potential buyers looking at a Honda, a Toyota, or even a Ford Edge.

We’re giving the 2011 Sorento an overall rating of 8.0 out of 10, with high scores in the safety and features and green categories. It falls a bit behind some compact utes on performance, but the styling is spot-on, and gas mileage is near the top of the class—as are standard features like USB for your music player and satellite radio. Can you rock with that? We think you can.

I would suggest that you come and take any of our cars for a test drive and meet the friendly staff at Scarboro Kia say hello to me Dominic Vigliatore the General Sales Manager as I would love for you to take the 2011 Kia Forte @ Scarboro Kia for a test drive. 2011 Kia Forte Koup 4 sale at Scarboro Kia located in Scarborough just east of Toronto
2011 Kia Forte Koup 4 sale at Scarboro Kia located in Scarborough just east of Toronto
At Scarborough Kia located in Scarboro just east of the GTA has the 2010 Kia Forte Koup (especially in top line SX guise like our tester) has a pert, taut shape that is both stylish and somewhat menacing. Kia has been on a major roll with their exterior design of late going from strength to strength with the Soul, 2011 Optima and the absolutely stunning 2011 Sportage.

Now there is no question that the 2010 Forte Koup SX looks good (even if we aren’t sure of the K in coupe), but is this little compact actually fun to drive? Not all Korean cars have excelled in embodying the “fun to drive economy car” in years past, so we were eager to see if Kia made progress on this front as well.

The SX variant is the sportier Forte Koup so it comes with a six-speed manual, sport tuned suspension and a larger 2.4 liter 173 horsepower/168 lb. feet of torque four cylinder. Fuel economy for the SX is 22 city/32 highway according to the EPA. During our testing we averaged 26 miles per gallon.

While we enjoyed the sunroof during recent scorching hot weather in Southern California, the leather trim was viewed as a somewhat unnecessary addition to the Forte Koup SX’s price.

Otherwise the Forte Koup SX comes loaded to the gills with goodies like air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, keyless entry, sweet looking 17-inch alloy wheels, Sirius, cruise control, Bluetooth, a 6-speaker AM/FM/CD stereo with very simple iPod/USB integration, steering wheel mounted audio/Bluetooth controls and that 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

Looking at all the standard features and the warranty it is easy to see why so many people are choosing to invest in Kia cars and SUVs. They are well built and have proven themselves reliable in customer satisfaction surveys. But does the Kia Forte SX have a sporting soul?

Well, the answer is complicated. The 2.4 liter 4-cylinder had plenty of torque to squeal the tires from a red light and the motor makes pleasing growly noises. The steering offered plenty of feel and the wheel was a delight to hold. The Forte SX even handles better than anyone paying this much should ever expect.

But the issue didn’t arise at freeway speeds or twisting two lanes. The problem with this six-speed manual Forte SX was only evident in parking lots where the grabby and recalcitrant clutch refused to allow smooth driving. Now, perhaps this was just a problem with our tester but it made us wish we had the five-speed automatic. (Note: For 2011 the Forte is getting a six-speed automatic.)

Now, if the manual transmission had been a bit less temperamental we would have no doubt enjoyed our time with the Forte SX all the more as it is a very well engineered and complete car. So, if you are interested in a Forte Koup SX (or Civic coupe) we recommend that you test BOTH the automatic and the manual transmission before you decide.

2011 Kia Rio for sale at Scarboro Kia located in Scarborough just east of Toronto
At Scarborough Kia located in Scarboro just east of the GTA has the 2010 Rio is an improved version of Kia Motor’s well-known subcompact by revising its appearance and style, while improving its value, safety features and utility. The 2010 Kia Rio has been listed in the Top 10 Most Fuel Efficient Car. It was also included in Edmunds.com’s list of “Editors” Most Wanted Sedan/Wagon Under $15,000″ and Forbes.com’s “Most Fuel-Efficient Cars for the Buck.”

Some of the car model’s modifications for 2010 are full body-color bumpers, a revised tabbed grille that matches Kia cars’ new look, black bezel headlamps, body-color side moldings and a stylish exposed exhaust outlet. One of the Rio and Rio5’s recent innovations is an EcoMinder indicator light for their automatic models that blinks when the vehicle has reached its peak fuel efficiency. This reminds drivers to always be fuel-efficient.

Based on 47 published reviews and test drives, the 2010 Kia Rio is ranked the 25th Most Affordable Small Cars. Topping the list of most affordable small cars are the 2010 Honda Fit, 2010 Honda Civic and 2010 Hyundai Elantra. The 2010 Kia Rio is just below 2010 Nissan Sentra and above 2010 Smart ForTwo and 2010 Toyota Yaris who are tied at 26th place.

Rio’s savvy style and affordability is very attractive to buyers and reviewers but its bare-bones cabin and uncomfortable seat arrangement are why it has not ranked any higher in the reviews.

Yet, it remains attractive to buyers who are planning to economize for its long warranty and excellent fuel economy ranking. The Most Affordable Small Cars survey gave the Rio an overall score of 7.5. The breakdown is as follows: performance – 7.0; Exterior – 8.4; Interior – 7.3; Safety – 8.4; and Reliability – 6.0.

Inside the 2010 Kia Rio:

The Rio is powered by a 1.6-liter DOHC, 4-cylinder CVVT engine that is capable of producing 110 horsepower and 107 pound-feet of torque. This is a spunky, powerful engine that is also notably fuel efficient. The Rio and Rio5 (five-door) both come in LX and SX trims and are equipped either with a 5-speed manual transmission or an electric controlled 4-speed automatic transmission. Rio and Rio5 are more powerful than its closest competition the Toyota Yaris and Chevrolet Aveo.

To achieve driving comfort and enjoyment, its fully adjustable driver’s seat comes with a fold-down armrest. The 2010 Rio can also be equipped with a SIRIUS Satellite audio (AM/FM/CD/MP3) system. Its center console has USB and auxiliary input jacks. For passenger comfort, a stack tray is placed at the center and on the passenger seat is a mesh seatback pocket.

Meanwhile, the LX series provides air conditioning, Bluetooth with hands-free connectivity, adjustable rear seat headrests, and 60/40-split folding rear seats. On the other hand, the stylish SX features additional attractive sport seat and door trim, metal-finished trim, steering wheel wrapped in leather, and rubberized inserts for the shift knob and metal pedals.

Both the Value Package LX models and SX series have cruise control, power door locks with keyless remote, power windows, outside mirrors with turn signals, tweeter speakers and audio and cruise controls mounted on the steering wheel.

Outside the 2010 Kia Rio

The fun-looking 2010 Rio is fitted with standard 14-inch wheels and 185/65R14 tires. Another option are 15-inch wheels with 205/55R15 tires (LX models), and 16-inch alloys with 205/45R16-sized tires (SX models).

As for all other Kia cars, the 2010 Rio has tab-shaped grille, black bezel headlamps, full body-color bumpers, outside mirrors with integrated turn signals, door handles and sleek side moldings. The SX series may be upgraded to include fog lamps, an exposed exhaust outlet and a rear spoiler.

Above all, the 2010 Kia Rio, as all other Kia vehicles, boasts of a number of safety technology measures, which include airbags, headrests, door beams, steering column, front and rear crumple zones, three-point seatbelts, Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children (LATCH), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), and an Antilock Brake System (ABS).

2011 Kia Rondo for sale at Scarboro Kia located in Scarborough just east of Toronto
2011 Kia Rondo for sale at Scarboro Kia located in Scarborough just east of Toronto
2011 Kia Rondo for sale at Scarboro Kia located in Scarborough just east of Toronto
At Scarborough Kia located in Scarboro just east of the GTA sees it as an interesting alternative to the traditional minivan or a tall-roof hatchback or wagon, the 2010 Kia Rondo remains a unique vehicle in the market. With an unbelievably roomy, minivan-like interior layout—in five- or seven-passenger seating—paired with backdoors that are hinged, not sliding, the 2010 Kia Rondo is definitely a little weird-looking but redeems itself for a number of reasons.

The Rondo is built for room, not for sex appeal, with its tall, bulbous profile and five-door configuration eking three available rows of seating out of a footprint that’s barely larger than that of a compact car. From some angles the Rondo appears downright awkward, but the rounded silhouette looks reasonably attractive, thanks to its overall simplicity and lack of gimmicky details. Inside, too, the emphasis is on functionality, with an unremarkable instrument panel design that locates the shifter at the bottom, not as part of the center console.

The 2010 Kia Rondo certainly won’t win any drag races. Powertrain options remain a 175-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder or 192-hp, 2.7-liter V-6. Between the two, there’s very little difference in actual thrust, so we recommend the more affordable four-cylinder engine, which is smooth and slightly more fuel-efficient. Both engines are paired with an automatic transmission that shifts smoothly and comes with a +/- shift gate for manual control. Maneuverability is very impressive in the Rondo, and it’s especially easy to park, but it doesn’t handle with the sharpness of the better minivans or sport wagons.

Moving people and their stuff around in relative comfort is what the 2010 Kia Rondo does best; although a third row of seating is available, it’s designed for children, not adults. Overall, the seating arrangement is fuss-free and helps maximize space, with the second row sliding fore and aft for better access to the third row or a better balance of legroom between rows. Storage space hasn’t been forgotten either; there are lots of small cubbies, along with an impressive recessed tray below the cargo floor. The materials used in the Rondo aren’t that impressive—they’re definitely of the type you’d see in a cut-rate small car—but it feels well put-together and has a smooth ride, free from excess road or wind noise.

The Rondo comes with a good set of standard safety features, including electronic stability control and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, plus front side and full-length head-curtain airbags. Safety features are quite good, too. In federal tests, the Rondo earns five stars for frontal impact and four- and five-star results for side and rear impact.

At Scarborough Kia located in Scarboro just east of the GTA has the 2011 Kia Soul offers a youthful and edgy style, nimble handling, everyday practicality and versatility to the hatchback/wagon segment. It also offers a host of features, a high level of customization, a roomy interior, affordable pricing, very good fuel efficiency and a long warranty. In other words, it has an awful lot going for it.

Having made its debut for the 2010 model year, the new 2011 Soul has also added some improvements, including new rear shock absorbers to better cushion the ride, standard rear disc brakes (as opposed to last year's drums), push button start, heated exterior mirrors, a trip computer and new door handles among the more notable.
2011 Kia Soul

Trims, Standard Features And Options:

The 2011 Kia Soul is a four-door hatchback/wagon offered in four trims: base, +, ! and Sport (yes, there are some quirky names ... a bit like the Soul's personality).

Standard features on the base Soul include power windows, power doorlocks, power mirrors, air conditioning, a tilt steering wheel, a trip computer, 15-inch steel wheels, a 60/40-split-folding rear seat and a 4-speaker audio system with satellite radio, a CD/MP3 player, and USB and auxiliary audio jacks.

The Soul + then adds a larger engine, keyless entry, cruise control, Bluetooth, 16-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable external mirrors, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, a height-adjustable driver seat, tinted rear windows, metallic interior trim accents and two more stereo speakers. Optional features for the Soul + include a sunroof, foglights, an upgraded stereo system and floor mats.

At Scarborough Kia located in Scarboro just east of the GTA used to call them “cute-utes.” From the Ford Escape, to the Honda CR-V on to the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage, a generation of small sport-utility vehicles were pitched at first-time shoppers in the hopes they’d trade up to bigger, higher-profit SUVs in the future.

Now that the SUV time-space continuum’s been disrupted by gas prices and a sour economy, these compact crossovers are growing up a little, doing the reverse of their original intent. They’re becoming a good alternative for buyers trading down from the larger utes that fell out of fashion over what seems like a matter of months.

With the 2011 Sportage, Kia’s placed its bets in all the right places. The Sportage has grown up into real-world dimensions, with more cargo space than ever. It’s still among the smaller vehicles in its class but it fits adults better in all situations.

And though it’s a mechanical twin of the 2010 Hyundai Tucson underneath, the Sportage’s sheetmetal hits the sport-ute crowd squarely with its smart blend of rugged details and hatchback practicality. The Tucson’s “fluidic sculpture” theme is compelling, but it can’t beat the Kia’s refreshing, crisp take on utility—and the Sportage has an equally direct and good-looking cockpit that contributes a lot to the crossover’s newfound quality feel. It’s even tackling the hands-free-arena with UVO, a Microsoft-engineered system with much in common with Ford’s SYNC; the Tucson has to wait while Kia gets it all to itself.

Pricing has jumped considerably for this Sportage. Its base price of just under $19,000 means the coming 270-hp SX model will nudge the $30,000 bottom line. That pitches the Sportage into a headlong battle with the longtime titans in this group—CR-V, Forester and Escape—and overlaps the base price of larger vehicles like the 2011 Ford Explorer. A higher sticker price could turn off some shoppers, but most who kick the Sportage’s tires will be far more impressed with its magnitude of change.
